Ernesto Galli della Loggia

Ernesto Galli della Loggia is professor emeritus of Contemporary History and columnist for Corriere della Sera. A graduate in Political Science from La Sapienza University, he taught Italian Economic History at the University of Siena from 1972 to 1975. In 1987 he was appointed professor of History of Political Parties and Movements at the University of Perugia. Editor of the monthly magazine Pagina (1984-1985), in 1990 he joined the Board of Directors of the Italian Society for the Study of Contemporary History (SISSCO) and in 1995 he founded the monthly magazine Liberal, which he directed until 1998. From 2005 to 2007 he was dean of the Faculty of Philosophy at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan, where he taught Contemporary History until 2009. Since November of the same year he holds the same chair at the Italian Institute of Human Sciences (SUM) and is director of the PhD course in Philosophy of History in collaboration with the University Vita-Salute San Raffaele.
