Marina Sozzi was born in Pavia in 1960, earned a degree in Philosophy in Turin, and studied in Paris and at the Scuola Normale in Pisa. She has devoted the past thirty years to studying the experience of illness and the end of life, as well as the rituals of death and mourning. She taught Historical Thanatology at the University of Turin. After coordinating the Center for the Promotion of Palliative Care at the Piedmont and Aosta Valley Oncology Network, she now works in the Cultural Office of the FARO Foundation in Turin and is the author of the blog “Si può dire morte” (www.sipuodiremorte.it). Her publications include Reinventing Death: An Introduction to Thanatology (Laterza, 2009), Let My Will Be Done: Rethinking Death to Change Life (Chiarelettere, 2014), and I Am Not My Cancer: Cancer Treatment in Italy (Chiarelettere, 2019).
